I know this is an old thread, and people might not want it bumped up, but I really want to say that I'd love this feature!

I'd absolutely love this widget, if only you could start conversations by clicking on a contact.
But I'm sure you already know there's a lot of people who'd like that

If it could be an option, which was by default turned off, I don't see why it could really be bad..? Apart from time and effort on the devs part of course.
Any extra options are good in my book of goodness.

Like the bright orange and compactness

The lightsaber icons are part of a massive icon pack somewhere around here uploaded a little while ago.. Have a search somewhere.

Nah I mean when you click it, and it's highlighted, and the drop down menu appears, have that image have a transparent background for the bubble 'fill', so that the universal menu bar highlight colour shows through it. Yeah that's a cool idea. I'd like an orange version. Maybe for the tiger highlighting blue thing, you could make the bubble transparent, so it would just be an outline, and the nice exclamation mark. Then you'd just see the tiger highlighting colour through it. I think that makes sense.

Very nice indeedy. I've made a slightly edited version too, available here. The blueness of yours doesn't quite go with the colours of the rest of menubar, for me. But your exclamation mark looks much better than mine..

It doesn't look like it no. The Apple one is laggy even when the dashboard is open. I click the next or shuffle or repeat or whatever button, and it takes a little while to react.

I can't actually remember the original author, but I edited them a bit to make them fit in with standard menu bar colours and suchlike. But it's okay from me
