You make a good point. There may be a hotkey for this, but it wouldn't be in Adium, it would be in the Mac OS X documentation. I'll look for this, too.Eh? I bet there's some way to cancel the currently playing sound. Peter would know better though.

The way you described it to me meant that you wanted it entirely disabled, so that's why I suggested what I did. There is no reason for you to become rude about it. By the time the text is sent to the system speech to say it, it's too late and disabling would do nothing useful beyond preventing fut...

Well, that was pretty useless. Disabling the speech would mean NOT hearing all of the messages I do want to hear. It's a good feature. I happen to like it. I really enjoy having Adium read my incoming instant messages, but sometimes I want to cut it off. Not permanently, but I just want to stop it from reading the current message.
