What's so special about it? The only thing different is the gloss effect up top. That'd be cool to have but I don't see the big difference. I've mimicked it as far as I can, but it's still falling short. Ideally, it would be a bezel styled full window, with status selectors, avatars et al in it. Ri...

UI suggestion: bezel

I would love it if we could display the contact list like a bezel, much as we do now with group bubbles, borderless windows et al.

I just think it looks pretty snazzy ;)

I'd like to keep Adiumy in some form, but I do recognise that it could be improved on, just as with anything on this earth. Perhaps one of the vectored icons would suit?

That would be Gone Dark by David Legnon (mr_misanthropy). Specifically, the variant is Gone Dark Polarised: Margarita :)

The tricky thing is that Adiumy has gained mascot status - there are bound to be better alternatives out there as per the reasonable man but they'd all sacrifice a degree of recognisability.

Talking of eye-candy, are there any plans to add a Quicksilver plug in? I'd love to be able to type a contact's name to start a chat with them :)

Can't remember

There are a few contact list styles out there that do this; the one shown is Cocoa.

Interestingly, this seems to be a case of public versus developers.

I say put it to a poll - you could vote on whether or not you would like to see core image effects wired in.

I'm sure the devs would take note; if they didn't take feedback into consideration, why would these boards exist?

So what exactly is it about the Adium GUI that you dislike? There is no easy answer to this question without inadvertenly causing the developers some upset - so I won't. ;) Being polite and being honest don't have to be at odds. This thread was started because we want honest answers from people who...

The Adium 1.x is marginally better, although not quite there yet (duh - it's not even in beta :P )

I don't exactly see anything wrong with honest criticism - freedom of opinion operates. People still use Proteus because - no offence - the UI is superior. It's better than Adiunm 1.x as it stands, providing you unify it. It's more polished, more professional and more consistent. Then there are the...
