same problem here.
it happens when you close adium x before to close each chat-window.

i'm sure it's not desired

I don't know, but you know when you start a chat, you will see the last lines of the previus session. ok? but if I forget to close the chat window and I quit adium directly, the next time, this "log" will not show and i will see the lines of times before and not the last one. I don't know ...
