I don't want to keep bumping this but someone has got to know what I'm talking about. I would love to clear this up, it's been bothering me for awhile since I really loved this feature.

Yes, but there used to be an option after that would only do it if the chat was X time after the last message with them.
For instance, it would only show previous messages from Bob if I have talked to him in the last hour.

This might be a dumb question, but in an earlier version of Adium, I remember the setting to 'Show X recent messages in new chats' if it was opened X minutes/hours/days since the message. I liked having this option, and setting it to the last hour or so, in case I closed my computer or the conversat...

I would love the option to have it merged per day, so every chat started on a certain date was in just one entry.

That seems to be it. How do I use the files there to set it up? Thanks a lot by the way, I'm very new to this stuff, but trying to learn Xcode and the like and I really appreciate the help.

I have used Pidgin for a while now and really enjoyed the psychic mode, where it would alert you when people were typing to you even when you didn't have an active chat open. I am not a great coder and really didn't know where to start when I first set out to do it, so I am just putting it out there...
