Just a note to say that I also have been getting the "delayed reaction" crash after receiving file transfers from AIM users on Windows. This is actually an improvement, as, until recently, I could not send or receive files on Adium, at all.

Agreed on both counts.

I hope that there soon will be color customization and, especially, the ability to determine how long the notification remains on the screen. (If there are currently ways to do either, then I haven't discovered them).

Do you have an emoticon pack selected in the Appearance pane of preferences? D'oh!! I sure didn't! Sorry for such a bonehead mistake/query.
