I have installed Perian just for me since I'm the only one using my Mac, so there shouldn't be permissions issues. And I wouldn't know how to repair permissions, when there's just one account.
I have uninstalled Perian, removed everything, but I still get the subs in Quicktime...

'load external subtitles' can't be switched off
I can't switch them off in Mac's Preference Pane. I uncheck the 'load external subtitles' option but it rechecks the box by itself. In short: how does one switch off this option?! I'm on a Mac, using Tiger. Thanks in advance.
