Is there any application then which is compatible with Growl? I'm trying to figure out a way to get rid of using FireFox and Update Scanner plugin.

I've got the same problem. I have installed the Growl itself for All users since "Install only for this user" is grayed out too. Also when uninstalling Growl I get popup asking where GrowlHelper.app (or something similar) is located. I have installed Growl many times before and probably ha...
