Just to add one more vote, I experience the same problem with Perian 1.1 and QT 7.5 or 7.5.5 (Pro). QT Player's Subtitles submenu is always "off", depsite the presence of .srt file(s) in the same folder as my movies. Needless to say, "load external subtitles" is checked in System...
