ok, so help me out then... what does Perian do for me? what benefits do i get from Perian? what can i do with Perian that i couldnt do before?

ok, here is what i did: i downloaded the dmg, mounted it and double clicked the Perian.prefPane icon. it installed, i have a new pane in System Prefs, and i comformed that there is a plug-in in the ~/library/quicktime folder. So, technically i should be able to play MPEG 2 movies right? well, so far...
