Why would QuickTime's architecture make it impossible to load Perian without a particular encoder? The Perian preference pane allows you to install and uninstall Perian by the press of a button, it must be possible to customize which codecs Perian registers?

Perian h.264 vs. QuickTime h.264?
Just curious...
Does Perian's support for h.264 override the official QuickTime version for MOVs and MP4s, or is it just there to play h.264 embedded in AVI files?
