that, and probably only that, is an Adium bug. Change NEW_MSN be defined to TRUE in ESPurpleMSNAccount.h.

Adium automatically disconnects when the computer sleeps. (It has to).

Or use Fast User Switching and create a guest account for guests to use.

I still don't understand your question. The file above explains how to build libpurple for Adium, including its dependencies, and how to subsequently package it to libpurple.framework. If you're trying to build libpurple for other purposes, there's no reason the same process wouldn't work for you......

You're right. The hack to do this can't work in 10.5.

I tried to have msnp14 enabled in libpurple and built it into Adium. can you write down the steps you took to achieve this? i'm following the instructions in adium/utilities/dep-build-scripts/README, but i can't seem to end up with a working libpurple build. i tried the process with pidgin source v...

No idea. Show us the debug output (adiumx.com/faq/CurrentAdiumDebug) of trying to send it and perhaps that will shed some light on the subject.

Please see adiumx.com/faq/ReportingBugs and file a ticket with your problem. Specifically, please include the debug log from receiving a message from a friend which should have a colored background but doesn't; adiumx.com/faq/CurrentAdiumDebug describes how to get and use the debug build.

So only 10-20 users total show up when you start Adium?

If you're seeing this problem, please help us fix it by providing more information rather than going back to a previous version.

Other Gadu clients are silly; there's no reason for this not to be automatic. Adium requests the list from the server after you connect.

Please use the CurrentAdiumDebug build and show me the debug log of connecting.

Adium 1.2 accidentally revealed these menu items; they aren't supposed to exist, as they don't do anything. Adium uses your serverside buddy list exclusively, and your list is automatically saved to the server when you make changes to it. Nice, but how do i download an existing list from the Server...

The default login server and port work fine; you don't need to change them.

Try enabled "connect via HTTP."

Please post the debug log (see adiumx.com/faq/CurrentAdiumDebug for instructions; you can use your 1.2.4b2 build) of (1) adding a bad contact and then (2) trying to delete it.

The handle is part of the information sent when joining the chat, so Adium saved that when you bookmarked the chat to be able to rejoin the same way later.
