A new account fixes it? A few users are reporting this same crash.. and I have been unable to determine what causes it or how to reproduce it. It appears to be linked to the Accessibility settings in the System Preferences.. have you ever changed those?

The date handles the 'on 1/01/01' bit... so "MSN Chat with x y z" would make sense. That's a long name though... think of what'll happen when x, y, and z are all email addresses. That's one long tab

That is a seriously wrong-sized image... MSN should not send images larger than 96x96.

Yeah, because MSN group chats don't have names, they are just collections of people.

There already -is- a menu for changing it. That's not the problem at all... the menu appears if and only if it is needed (you are interacting with a contact who either is a metaContact and so there are multiple destination choices, or you are IMing on a protocol which has multiple accounts online so...

I'd put money on the claim that this is the result of iTunes being quit and restarted.

But indeed, Lyg: Order the MSN name higher than the AIM name in the metaContact and you should get the behavior you're looking for.

What's your network setup? It used to be that Adium would -always- try to reconnect when waking up from sleep, regardless of network connectivity. Not sure about Yahoo, but there's an "HTTP Connect Method" option in the MSN connection preferences which does this. It doesn't exactly work wonderfully, like any non-standard connection configurations via gaim, but it does work
