In Adium Preferences go to the status tab. Create a new status by clicking on the + button. Give it a title, set the state and in the "Status message:" field, control-click/right click on the field itself and look for "Insert iTunes Token".

Based on other posts about MSN support in Adium, I get the impression that it has some issues. I don't have an MSN account so I can't test this. If you can consistently recreate it, you should file a Trac after making sure no one else has reported it.

I'm not sure it's fair to say that Apple broke getaddrinfo. Rather they updated it to the most recent DNS standard and unfortunately not all DNS servers have been updated or function correctly according to the new standard. So I'd say what's broken is the DNS server(s) not responding to SRV requests...

Yeah sorry, I'm misunderstood what was being asked for. To change your icon on a per-account basis you would go to: Adium -> Preferences -> Accounts -> Select the account -> Edit -> Personal -> select the "Use this icon" radio button and assign an icon.
