I can confirm this issue in 1.3.5, the newest version.

Excluding QT from enhanced apps, under modules, worked for me. The avi that was problematic didn't have any specific info (command-i) to tell me what encoding or whatever had made them so. update- OK on my other machine I just now opened an avi file that has an .srt file included in the same folder....

audiohijack i think, and under enhanced apps there's everything from archive assistant to teleport, safari and mail. i've also had to disable Perian as some .avi's won't play. i'll turn it back on if i need the subtitle function.

[edit] I just found the problem. In System prefs, if you have Application Enhancer installed, that for some reason messes w/QT. I went to the Panel for AE and clicked Modules, Enhanced Applications, selected QT and clicked Add to Exclude List. This ended the issue for me. :grin: :grin: :grin: :grin:...
