for what it's worth...
seems to have solved the (short term) problem. But i'd really like to get GrowlMail to work. any ideas?

i just noticed a small discrepancy in the documentation. http://growl.info/documentation/growlmail.php suggests quitting Mail.app after moving the bundles, but the GrowlMail_Installation.rtf that comes with the download specifically states that it's very important to quit Mail before moving the bund...

Hey, i just installed growl 0.7 on 10.4.1, ran the commands in the terminal, quit Mail, re-oponed it, and it crashed almost right away.
