The Status Menu Item (a.k.a. the Evil Menu Duck) doesn't support changing status at this time. When the status system gets rewritten (0.9? 0.8? who knows), I'll see about something then.

A lot of the legwork has been done already. Now that exams and christmas are over, my schedule is starting to open up.

The pref idea sounds like an excellent plan (And yes, kbotc, I'm working on that patch of yours. Finals were a terrible time, and it's been a busy holiday season so far. Keep bugging me )

Xcode is a decent IDE. I've seen a lot worse, to tell the truth. Actually, I haven't really seen an IDE that made me say "Wow, this is awesome!"

Just to confirm, Adium has no release schedule, and 0.8 has no release date. There will probably be 0.8 betas like there were for 0.7, but we don't have an ETA on those either. In short, it'll be ready when it's done
