Try port 5223 with Force old-style SSL. You can also try unchecking "Do strict certificate checks." Make sure to include the @gmail.com after your username.

Also had trouble connecting to Google Talk. Ended up setting Port to be 5223. and selected "Force old-style-SSL" and it connected almost instantly.
