This has been happening to me as well.

I have my chat logs stored using Drop Box and I assumed this was causing the issue.

You aren't by chance doing that as well are you?

I'm not sure how you would get the iSight effects into Photobooth; Adium doesn't actually supply those effects.

The pictures should be stored in ~/Library/Images/iChat Recent Pictures/
