Starting Tues NOV 3rd, I started having the same issue. Running Mac OS X 10.5.8, Adium 1.3.7.
Captcha won't stop appearing, and Adium crashes when i disable the account. I have been able to disable the account w/out a crash through the status menu. Please get this issue resolved.
