auto correction

for talking to those people who I would prefer to use real words, but i still can't give up my IM shorthand, how about an easily toggelable, iWork style, auto correction pref-pane? (I am requesting this as one of those "eh, would be nice to have" things).

about colloquy, when using it I have noticed that it extremely resembles Adium (at least on the UI level), do the 2 apps share any code? are there common devs? could any of these help in getting IRC into Adium? why don't you just merge or something? (as to the last question, I am aware of the extrem...

I agree with budoink 1000%.
apart from that, just a question to think about, how do "official" clients deal with emoticons from previous versions of the same client?

- why should you initiate a file transfer every time you want to send an emoticon? (overkill) well, with connection speeds getting faster and faster every time you blink, sending tiny images instead of emoticons (in the future, that is) isn't that silly. on a different note, my main problem isn't t...

How is 'supporting any number of emoticon packs simultaneously, with automatic and seamless handling of per-service emoticon specificity' not a good implementation? there isn't 'seamless handling of per-service emoticons specifically' to the extent there should be, for one, I can send my contact em...

to some it up, emoticons are really screwed up in Adium and need some work. gee, fantastic summary. Emoticons work quite well in Adium; it is possible that a minor bug as described above exists in the current implementation. I beg to differ. Adium is a multi-protocol chat app, and it does not displ...

normally i don't, I only open it when i want to video chat someone. when only adium is open, i appear in my conatct list once with the generic Bonjour icon. when I have iChat open, I appear in my own contact list twice, once as I described earlier, and once with my user image in iChat. I'm in my own bonjour list

When I sign in to Bonjour in Adium, I appear in my own contact list, this didn't use to happen, is this usual? (no, I am not signed in to Bonjour using another client on my computer, when I open iChat, I am listed twice in Adium)

anyway, when my coding is good enough, if i remember, I will give games in ChatKit a try, would be a cool addition, and if all goes well and lots of clients adopt ChatKit, it would make IM gaming on the mac pretty cool (you know, with cross application support n' stuff, and every app could supply it...

so, back on topic, I suggest that 1.0 ships with built in games, and, eventually, in Adium 457.324.3, when every other possibly imaginable goal is reached, make it compatible with major IM clients' games. You're more then welcome to write a ChatKit Functionality Protocol™ for it and begin implement...

Games in 1.0

in light of many many IM clients shipping with built-in games, and in light of the fact that Adium already has them (Myko games), it would make much more sence bundeling the games into 1.0, than me asking all my Adium using friends to download them.

Re: Googletalk behind a packet inspecting firewall.

I always used to connect to googletalk on port 80 since we have a rather strict firewall at school and it blocks the default port. After some research using the official googletalk client on a windows laptop it appeared that gtalk was accepting connections on port 80. This worked for me untill rece...
