I have not even the slightest idea of any link between user ID and Dock management.
Vienna does not do anything specially fancy on this field, so I suspect the issue is more OS related than Vienna related, but I cannot be certain.

In the general preferences, uncheck the option which marks updated articles as unread.

Apart from the password stored in the Keychain entry, the server address and the username are stored in the preferences file uk.co.opencommunity.vienna2.plist

I suggest deleting the 'Vienna sync’ entry in Keychain Access (in /Applications/Utilities) and reenter your credentials in Vienna.

I guess it must be a problem with some browser sniffing technique or some Javascript in the authentication dialog. I remember encountering similar problems with iOS apps. RC 6 and RC 7 were prone to crashes under Yosemite (sorry for that…) but we consider RC 8 te be safe.
