guids are optional, but highly recommended by the specs.
Lazy feeds having duplicate guids are a nightmare we must deal with. We must find the right balance between risking missing important articles, and having such annoying repeating articles.

This does not explain why you can run Vienna with another user on the same machine…
Check again the above mentioned files/folder.

Re: Request: Add plugin folder to Application Support
Not at all - I didn't know that you could place plugins in that folder, since there's not a folder called "Plugins" created automatically by Vienna. As described here : Vienna plugins are distributed in the form of folders with the extension “.viennaplugin“, which OS X automatically treat...

Re: VIENNA CRASHES
You say that it opens in another account you created.
Apart the app itself, the only files Vienna accesses is ~/Library/Preferences/uk.co.opencommunity.vienna2.plist and those in ~/Library/Application Support/Vienna/
May be you have an authorization problem ?
By the way, which OS are you running on ?

Re: Request: Add plugin folder to Application Support
I don’t really understand this request. As far as I have tested, additional plugins are already installed in the ~/Library/Application Support/Vienna/Plugins folder… Additional styles are installed in ~/Library/Application Support/Vienna/Style folder May be you want additional plugins/styles to take...

Re: Article keeps duplicating as new
guid values must not be duplicated within a feed: http://dvd.netflix.com/Movie/Moms-Night-Out/70301647 The offending line:
appears twice in that feed. On these cases, Vienna will look on basis of a date/l...

You mean, in the article view on the main tab ?fred44nl wrote: usually it occurs when I want to scroll in the window that shows the page within Vienna.
the flash-plugin of Vienna also crashes sometimes, but only very rarely.
I suppose the folder is set to automatically load the website page for each article ?

Re: Version 3.0.0 RC 4
I have a good saple of the articles.
I didn't experience a hang, but the Flash plug-in crashed on me (without making Vienna to crash itself).
May be you could try cleaning per site Flash related datas ? (through the Flash Player panel in System Preferences)

The setting to disable this is available in Apple's System Preferences / Notifications
If this is not effective the first time, try enabling again then disabling.

Re: subscription requires user name and password
May be you are providing username or password while the feed does not require them.
Use menu item "Folder -> Get Info…" and make sure both fields are empty.
If you provided a password, it is stored in Apple's keychain. This may explain why it is still stored after a delete/resubscribe.

@makoto99 : did you try scrolling the list, to verify if doing that updates the article pane ?
Also, when the problem reoccurs, you can try slightly resizing the window.

This is related to Apple's Webkit, not to Vienna itself.
You should probably empty your caches.

The problem seems related to a web view ; might be caused by one of the URLs in the opened tabs.
When the problem reoccur, can you test the same URLs in Safari ?
