SOLVED! PEERGUARDIAN IS THE CULPRIT BREAKING FACEBOOK CHAT!
On a whim and at my wits end, I decided to disable PeerGuardian to see if just maybe it was the cause of my Facebook Chat woes. Boom! Fixed it. Seriously. I have no idea which loaded list was causing it, but at least I know where the problem lies. I WAS THIS CLOSE TO DELETING ADIUM AND MOVING ON. Pa...

On new version, Facebook Chat works, then stops after a day
It's the same thing every time a new beta or hard release comes out. I go through re-setting up Facebook Chat. Suddenly it works again...flawlessly. Then after several hours...it stops and gets stuck in the unable to log on loop. Is it really this difficult to engineer to work consistently? I just d...

Re: 1.5b8 (12/17/11) Facebook worked yesterday, not today
The sad thing is that pretty much everybody I know has moved to "Failbook" chat and now I have no need for the other IM client capability...which of course has rendered both my iChat and Adium useless. I guess there's Skype...?

Re: 1.5b8 hijacks the NVIDIA GPU, kills battery life
You're fine. I interpreted the second sentence David quoted as sarcasm. =-) I wonder whether it's the message style that is causing this. Could you use a bundled style for a while and check on that? I switched back to the Stockholm style. So far so good. The onboard/Intel is not switching off to th...

Re: 1.5b8 hijacks the NVIDIA GPU, kills battery life
Which message style are you using, summerstormpictures? I am using the Adium Matte style which I downloaded. I apologize if I am obtuse in my contributions here. I am new to the forum and while I have used Adium for over 5-years now, up to now it has been so flawless that I guess I haven't had to c...

Re: 1.5b8 (12/17/11) Facebook worked yesterday, not today
<snip>but Facebook chat is at best inconsistent. You know, you're right. This has been partly Adium's fault as it has been slow to adapt to changes made by Facebook. On the other hand, Facebook Chat has been a very unreliable service itself. I knew it had to be a combination of this. I can understa...

1.5b8 hijacks the NVIDIA GPU, kills battery life
Oh, and another issue that is increasingly frustrating with a lot of software out there: Why is Adium grabbing hold of my discrete/NVIDIA GPU? There's no need for it to do this since there's no video chat capability anyway. All it does now is reduce my battery life from 5-plus hours to just over 2.5...

Don't get me wrong, you all are doing fan-damn-tastic work with Adium, but Facebook chat is at best inconsistent. I've used Adium for years now. I don't do video chat, so it's nice to have all the various chat clients under one roof so to speak. That said, beginning a couple months ago, Facebook cha...
