++ to that I don't recall who came up with it... I saw the concept pop up in more than one place on the net simultaneously, but as far as I know we're the first to implement it :) Not quite. I've see it before; when I read the article in TidBits I was surpised to read it was considered a "new&...

aim disconnects leave status showing online

Since the AIM service seems to be having troubles today and I get dumped off every few hours, I've noticed a problem with the way Adium handles it. I hear the disconnect alert sound, and the AIM contact list closes. However, the account status in the menu shows me still online. In order to get conne...

When I installed, I first closed all apps that used growl notifications. Then when I double clicked the pref pane I got an error that "bubbles was in use" so the install couldn't continue. I manually dragged the pref pane to ~/Library/Preferencepanes and installed that way. In similar fash...

I have two accounts I use for work, three I use for personal. I put the contacts for each account into their own groups. That pretty much solves the problem. Easy to see who's who.

Do the next best thing. :-) Create a group for each account. You won't have separate buddyl lists, but buddies from each account will be grouped.

Indeed. Is there anyone someone could make a special version of Adium that logs everything related to going to sleep and the first minute or two after waking up? Then, those of us experiencing intermittent problems could just use that version for a while and send in the logs… If there was a debug v...

Adium reconnects just fine for me (I hear the duck groan). However, about half the time the contact list doesn't show. I have to go "offline" then back "online" to get the contact list to come back onto the screen.

What sort of contact? I've seen this problem with jabber contacts and had to re-request authentication. Until I did the contact always were listed as offline.

That's a problem brought on your choice to use a broken installer. :-) I've installed other apps that give a choice.

Obviously you don't really care about user choice, so I won't debate the point further.

It's your app, do what you want with it. :-) I'll still disagree. Why not give the user a choice to install for all users or a single user? Then you still accommodate those who are incapable of following the readme steps, and accomodate those who don't want to pollute all user accounts.

I guess I missed the point of how growmail is hard to install. Almost every single Mac app install is simply dragging the app to the Applications folder. Installing growlmail involves dragging a single file to the mail bundles folder. No harder than installing Adium. In an effort to simplify, you ad...

What's the reason for adding the extra baggage of a installer for a single file installation? In addition you take away the user's choice of where to install. You cause the user to take an extra step of moving the file. By forcing an install for all users on the machine, the ability to have a "...

Okay, the pref pane is fixed. (I see that GrowlMail now gets installed system wide, sort of defeats the idea of keeping a clean user account for testing.) However, GrowlMail alerts no longer work. Adium alerts no longer work. Growlichat alerts no longer work. Edit: Sigh. Have to reboot to get things...

The only other Mail plugin I use is GPGMail.

Currently using Bubbles for Mail notifications.

Feature request - over screensaver

Could there be an option to display alerts when the screensaver is on? (The alerts displayed over the screensaver.)
