I found out that it is the server that I am downloading from. It is a staging server with the small web development company that I work for that is only connected through DSL. Therefore, I can only download at the rate that it can upload at.

Creeping FTP speeds
When downloading from an FTP server I am only getting speeds of no more than 40 kb/sec. I am on cable broadband internet and connected to a wireless router. What can I do to make it faster?
