Right. I was assuming it was impossible to do on a laptop whereas a desktop (PC in my experiences) can keep one logged in for days as my Windows using friends often are with always-on internet connections.

Okay, so I'm using Adium on an iBook running Tiger (10.4.6) and everytime I put my book to sleep, I sign off. Is there a way to stay on, in theory, forever that I'm just not seeing? Thanks!
