Are you running any haxies? Haxies are the devil, and can cause some really strange problems.

Also, when did you last restart your computer? I know it sounds weird but if you haven't restarted your Mac for a while funky things happen in Denmark.

I'm not sure where you can download 0.82 from but it might be better to contact the author of the message style you use and see if s/he can find a fix for you.

In addition, there is the preference to hide the message window(s) when Adium is not the frontmost application... Preferences > Advanced (toolbar item) > Messages (sidebar item) > Window Handling.

First, quit Adium if it's not already running. Then try moving the message style out of the ~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Message Styles/ folder.

That should force Adium to change the message style used the next time you start Adium.
