It's based on a Firefox button, I made a matching set for my site.

Unfortunately with 0.8, it won't be possible to force the text to a specific colour. It's up to the user to disable incoming colours in the message preference pane.

If you specify colours in the CSS, the style will use these colours when this option is disabled.

I don't get exactly what your problem is - it was just the .plists that changed, right? It's easiest if you download one of the new sets and have a poke around.

You have to restart Adium, there's a note to that effect in the prefs I think.
