This problem has been filed in Trac and is being looked into.
Just so you know your messages aren't lost:
Sending/Receiving works, the message view is just broken.

The problem described in this thread is known and being worked on. Will be fixed in 1.3.1 with almost 100% certainty.

You can update to 1.3 final, it was released just two hours or so ago.

This might be related to your message style. You could try a different one and check.

You're ok, monkeyman767, the behaviour you're seeing is considered wrong at this stage. Hopefully, that's fixed for the next release.

What the FAQ says is that re-installing doesn't fix problems. I see no reason why installing Adium shouldn't work.

Of course, you can add MSN contacts with email addresses that not end with @hotmail.com .
It's just that MSN<->Yahoo interoperabilitiy hasn't been implemented, yet. See #5610.
