We used to have a separate contact list editor. Then came along inline editing, which is MUCH more intuitive, and the editor disappeared. There's no need for a separate mode.
There are message view styles out there that will show you FULL sized icons, if you want -- search for "MSN" on the XTras site. But given that, we will not be incorporating this as an Adium feature, becuase of the huge interface clutter that it adds.
I think that if we're not going to have a separate Contact List editing mode, then a metacontact editing mode is right out as well. It's really overkill for a simple feature. A menuitem will do if anything.
Maybe you should be able to drag contacts into one another without the option key. Sounds like a bad idea -- this would make rearranging your contact list a difficult proposition! We'd always be hearing "I went to move someone down one spot and they disappeared!" Maybe something in the co...
There are two AIM protocols, TOC (used by the Java web client and open for any 3rd-party clients to use) and Oscar (the full AIM protocol used by AOLIM, but harder to use). Many 3rd party clients use TOC, which has a lower contact limit than Oscar. Adium uses Oscar, as do any other libgaim-based cli...
You can filter the console contents for "Adium" (use the search field in the upper right of the window) -- that will at least show only the Adium logs. However, I doubt that you will find much -- but do check!
Best bet: check out the source code. Otherwise we don't specify the specific release number in the binary itself.
The gaim (or Gaim) folks have that name because it's not a trademark. If it were capitalized, it would be too close to a trademark that AOL has on a "competing product".
And remember the days when Adium was prized for it's simplicity and ease-of use? The latter still applies, but the former… Hrm? Adium X (i.e. the current version) is MUCH easier to use and understand than good ol' Adium 1.6, whose prefs were a bizarre batch of nonstandard controls and strange optio...
