It's spelled Perian, and defaulting to off is the wrong choice given Perian's usage.

I opened this up on a computer with only Perian and Flip4Mac installed, and it opened just fine in QTX and QTP7. It says the codec is Apple Photo JPEG. I cannot seem to reproduce the problem.

None of that code is in Perian, so you'd be hard pressed to say it is Perian's fault. Most of the time is spent in threads waiting inside of JVTCompEncodeFrame, which is not Perian.

Post a sample or nothing will ever change.

Perian doesn't join, it just allows Quicktime to open. You need to used QT for joining and for that I'd recommend asking google.

If QT Player has a problem, it'll show a dialog. Either it the dialog is presented, or the movie is opened.
