Perhaps, we can hope, however futile it might be, that the real passthrough method is actually enabled; like it was on the ATV.

It is possible to bundle Perian within your application so your app uses it, but doesn't require any install. I'm not familiar with the exact specifics, but it sounds like that may be what you are shooting for? IIRC, it just involves putting the perian components within your app's bundle, and tellin...

Perian doesn't open flash files, but instead flash video files (.flv). Perhaps you used a different component to open flash files?

Playback of mkv requires an import procedure, which is done during playback in order to provide immediate playback. The ATV simply does not have the processing power to handle this. Either open the mkv file on your mac and save it (not transcode, just save), or mix the two tracks together into a .mo...

Perian isn't an application, and thus such a feature has absolutely nothing to do with it. Look for applications which do queued conversion.

This is a result of playing the AVI without the index. The index is stored at the end of the file, and thus isn't available until the file is complete.

maybe because we don't have enough parsers enabled? Enabling parsers opens up a whole world of trouble. Once we use them, we loose location information within the containing file for data. Once that is lost, then making a file available for QuickTime is far from easy. Quite frankly, this is a serio...

Exactly. The answer is no. Nothing, I repeat nothing, should be able to do this no matter how buggy. That means it's Apple's fault.

As I reported in the ticket, this is Apple's bug, not Perian's.

Turn on or off the appropriate tracks. In QT Player this is in the movie properties. Nice player also includes an interface to change this.
