This would be great, indeed. It wouldn't interfere with your actual groups at all, just like smart folders or playlists or albums don't mess with the other/real ones ("real" at least pertaining to smart folders vs. real folders in Finder 10.4). Smart groups would be locked, so buddies coul...

I think we (well, the devs) might be able to manage that. I looked at the ToDo list and there are only 3 things with a priority of 5, though I don't know if priorities of 4 or 3 have to be done before .8's release. Language translation isn't mentioned in the ToDo list so hopefully we can wrap that u...

When are the design awards?

I hope they aren't really soon, and I definitely hope that .8 isn't rushed in any way because of this.

Yeah, I thought push/pop was for storing unsent messages (it used to be, and the name certainly implies it), and hitting up-arrow or whatever to see previously sent messages is just kind of a general feature, it's in Colloquy too, dunno what else.

Despite the warnings, most of the betas (like beta 6) have been really stable, perhaps just as stable as .77. I'd wait for beta 8 to come out though, as I've heard of many crashes with beta 7. I'm still using beta 6.

Heh, if I were a Proteus fan, I'd be irate about this, at both Macworld and Apple. It isn't really fair to Proteus.

There are four main advantages that Adium has among instant messaging clients. First, it's free and open-source (it's licensed under the GPL, for you techies). Open-source means that a variety of developers are free to work on it as they please, though no one is actually paid to do it. There are no ...

Re: Documentation Procedure

As we post new topics and others seem to get finished, the posts will be reviewed and/or condensed into what will seemingly be the text that makes the wiki. This will be signified by a locked thread. Once a thread is locked, the text in the post will be then be transferred to our wiki. If any chang...

Yeah, it's weird because I've always used a 2-button mouse, so to me "right-click" sounds more natural than "control-click," but there are probably a greater number of Mac users who know that "control-click" can mean right-click than the number who know that "right...

Couple notes: 2. Replace "preference pane" with "Preferences" or similar. Each individual section of the prefs (not the whole window) is a pane. 5. Change the part in parentheses to: (with MSN you have to use the full email address you signed up with; in most cases, this has @hot...

(Follow up to #1 in that list...) Or, if you're already talking to someone who isn't on your buddy list, and you'd like to add them, control-click their tab (the area with their name and status icon, below the text input field in the message window) and select Add Contact... edit: is it a problem to...

On some protocols, such as AIM, there are only a few specific statuses: Available, Away, Idle, and Invisible. For example, if you're away, you have an "away message" up, which people can view by getting info on you or by messaging you. Or if you're invisible, you appear offline to anyone w...

How about copying some of the content from synapse's wiki into the new wiki once it's created? synapse's has some pretty good documentation so it seems like it would be worthwhile to copy over some of that stuff rather than writing it all over again. Plus I just made like five changes to synapse's w...

Just wanted to say that I'm really excited about this wiki-style documentation coming to Adium. I love the idea of wikis and am interested in being able to edit or contribute to an Adium one. I'm looking forward to this. Any idea when the documentation will be up and running? Finally, will it use th...

I thought each OS X release had actually been showing increasingly better performance on old machines (like iMac G3s)? If Jaguar and Panther would run, then Tiger probably would too, right? Just some features like Core Image of course wouldn't work.

Tip: if you don't mind waiting a couple weeks, the next version of Mac OS X is rumored to be out soon, so I'd hold off on buying a new OS until it comes out. The release date could be announced within a matter of days. But I agree with The_Tick about the RAM. Get at least another 128 MB in there (so...

gaim is a Linux program, a multi-protocol IM client like Adium. Adium uses some of gaim's protocol code (the code that is used to connect to the IM networks and such; referred to as "libgaim"). So a lot of technical or service-related bugs or issues in Adium, such as file transfer, are de...

Wow, sweet! Publicity is always good (at least if it's good publicity, which it's sure to be with a great program like Adium). Macworld has a lot of subscribers and is a respected magazine in the Mac community so this is good news.
