When you say a force reboot was required, do you mean the whole system just locks up, like you can't move the mouse or anything (this has happened to me once or twice after quitting Virtual PC), or does it kernel panic, or what?

I think this was supposed to be secret… ...he says, and then spills the beans some more :P. Really though I was quite curious of this myself, and that would certainly be nifty to see joscar replace libgaim for OSCAR support, if it is indeed a lot better. I'm not sure why it's a separate branch thou...

Try quitting Adium, deleting ~/Library/Caches/Adium, opening Adium again, and opening the Log Viewer. It should say "indexing x of y logs," where x and y are numbers, near the top.

You can't, can you? People have tried blocking and warning it, and nothing happens, so unless things recently changed, that won't work.

Sorry in advance if I'm misunderstanding here, but I'm pretty sure you're asking about how to get a user's password without their permission through some kind of hack. This is obviously illegal and I don't think anyone here will help you with that, if it's even possible with Adium. As for the cell n...

Unfortunately no, even though there used to be a File menu command for it. The Trac page on it (http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/ConnectAll) can be misleading, since selecting Available from the Status menu only connects all accounts that are checked in the Accounts pref pane.

The submenu for each connected account (for AIM accounts, at least) in the File menu has those options. Works fine for me.

vash, sorry if we were a little harsh there, but this sort of question is asked a lot, so you really should search trac or search the forums before you ask about something like this :). But to answer your question, service-related things like Direct Connect aren't really handled by Adium development...

My immediate theory for why this is: in the past, Adium would (and maybe it still does) take you to a certain message tab when you click the Dock icon. If there's only one unread message waiting, it takes you to that tab. If there's more than one, maybe it takes you to the most recent one, or whatev...

Yeah, I like those much better than Mail's, because the edges of the buttons flow evenly around the images (i.e. the images are the same shape as the button edges), whereas in Mail, the buttons are big horizontally and small vertically, producing lots of room in one dimension but hardly any in the o...

I think it should just show the last conversation you had with the person, regardless of service. Isn't the point of message history so that you can see where you left off with the person? And isn't the point of metacontacts so that service doesn't matter from an interface perspective?

slop: the same thing happened to me recently. Someone here suggested hitting Option-UpArrow to scroll through previously-sent messages until you get back to one with the font you like. That worked for me.

I think the Dock status menu is just fine. To set a presaved status, just go into the Dock icon, into one submenu after that, and there they all are. If you want to bring up the Custom... status box then that requires bringing Adium to the front and thus the Dock icon isn't really important regardin...

I don't think a note about processor/RAM requirements is necessary. Most users probably know that an IM client is not a very resource-needy program, so if they don't see anything about it on the site, they'll probably assume they're fine.

Yeah, Adium X .8x will work on Jaguar. Adium X 0.9 won't, though, as far as I know. Come to think of it, there really should be a System Requirements link/section on the homepage. We all know what Adium needs, but others may not, and it's a standard bit of information that every app's webpage should...

That's happened to me on occasion; my cable Internet will get wacky, and my sent IMs won't actually be sent to the person. Usually if I'm ever suspicious that there's something up with my Internet, I'll send an IM to myself. If I get a reply back, then the Internet is fine (since it has to go throug...

Good point MacMom; two questions here. First, did you see any indication that they had IMed you (such as their name, followed by blank space?), or did you just not receive the IM at all? Also, check your logs (actual logs, not message history); sometimes messages can be received and logged but won't...

You left out "Adium 2.0" after the filepath to the new location. The "Adium 2.0" at the end is so UNIX (or whoever) knows what your symbolic link is called, just like if you made an alias of your Adium 2.0 folder, you would call it Adium 2.0.
