GAIM-Lib

I'm under the - possibly mistaken - impression that AdiumX accomplishes most of it's "multi IM" functionality through the use of Gaimlib.

Based on that, I'm wondering how long 'til there's a version of AdiumX based on the new beta version that has been released by the Gaim people. In particular, it would be great to get my hands on some of the Jabber protocol fixes they've put in place.

Any information would be most helpful.

Cheers

I am not familiar with what version of gaim that the Adium team is currently useing, but have you looked at the changelist for the beta version (1.0) of adium? Perhaps the changes have already been implemented.

IIRC adium beta, uses libgaim beta. Also Adium no longer uses libgaim for Jabber accounts so i guess it's all moot where Jabber/libgaim is concerned :)

I'd be interested to know for sure if Adium is using some other library, etc for jabber. If so, whatever's in use has one of the same problems as the old libgaim: no buddy icons. That's the main reason I assumed that Adium was using libgaim for jabber.

Anyone know if this is true or not?

ps - thanks for the clarification. it is indeed libgaim, and not gaimlib

i don't think there is already a way to get adium 1.1 (the smack version), since it's in a too earl stadium of development.
but the adium 1.0 beta uses libgaim 2.0 and buddy icons work fine with it. you can download the beta version from the adium site, but i don't know if the devs like the direct link to be postet here, because they don't want 1.0 to be advertised yet since it is still in beta and could be unstable. maybe one of them could post the link? otherwise you would have to search a little (or wait for the final version) . :P

Probably down though. We're having server issues.

You can compile it yourself through SVN, but when you try to connect to a Jabber server via Smack, it gives you an error message and then crashes Adium.

Interesting. That's not what it's doing for me... I wonder if a recent change broke it or something. What system + java version are you using?
