Removing Buddy Icon Permanently?

My buddy icon keeps setting to a picture that I took with my isight on my mac os x tiger system. it's really frustrating, I keep changing it to a black picture but my friends keep getting the isight picture. is there anyway I can remove the icon function completely so that I don't send out any icon information. I'd really just rather not have one. thanks in advance for any help!

Select the icon and then hit the Delete key and the image will be removed.

Where do I select the icon? Is there an icon folder where I could just delete them all & then set it to read only so that no icons get accidentally added?

Where are you changing it to a black picture?

In the Adium >> Preferences >> Accounts >> Edit >> Personal tab, I can't seem to delete in there though.

And after setting it to a black icon, you hit OK, then go back to there and it's no longer the black icon but rather something else?

No, I think the problem is that it sometimes sets itself to the ichat icon or something which is changed sometimes when I accidentally hit the buddy icon button in photobooth, but I don't want any icon at all really. I'd prefer not to have the black icon either, though I don't know if this is possible. ugh.
edit: I just saw this post

What's AB integration? I think that's the problem, it's getting the picture from my mac id card thing or something. is there any way I can turn this off? when I deleted all the black pictures and others from the recent pictures folder once, it set to this random picture that I'd taken with my isight in photobooth
edit2: ok, so I just realised that AB was address book and turned those options off under the advanced preferences, hopefully everything's fine now!

When I had Adium X v0.89.1, it would respect the buddy icon I had set on my Windows AIM client and only change my buddy icon for the duration that I was logged into Adium on my Mac. As soon as I exited Adium, my Windows AIM (which was logged in the entire time at home), would revert back to my "Legend of Zelda" buddy icon.
This new version seems hell-bent on changing my Buddy Icon permanently to the 8-ball (which is my Mac OS X user icon).
Can you change that behavior back to the old behavior? I haven't changed ANY settings since the upgrade.

The old behavior is a bug -- it is right for the serverside icon to be updated when a client logs in or changes its icon. Why don't you set your buddy icon to be your desired Legend of Zelda icon in Adium, so it's the same in both places?

the only reason i dont want to do that is because the Legend of Zelda icon is from AOL's Expressions page and it's a special buddy icon.
can you put an option to have it do it the old way please?

What do you mean it's special? i.e. why can't you set it in adium?

because the one's that AOL has on their "expressions" page that you can select also put a "mini buddy icon" next to your name in the new AIM 6 client. i liked the old way Adium did it because for the time i was logged in on my Mac, it would be the 8 ball and when i logged out, it would go back to the Zelda icon. it worked PERFECT like that.
please include an option to do it EITHER way!

I guess there's not really an option for clearing your icon like in Fire? I've been trying to remove it all together

heh, of course it prompts for a aol login.
When you log in, can you drag the image off the page and onto your desktop on your mac?
