Growl New Email Notifications - They don't seem to werk

Post by zu1u »

First off i used the search function and followed all the suggestions i could find on the topic.. but the damn thing just won't work.
I've got the latest beta version of adium [1.0 b14] which is running on OSX 10.4.8 with Growl 0.7.4 and GrowlMail.
Both Adium and GrowlMail appear as registered in the System Preferences menu, i am recieving growl notifications for everything else that's going on except for new emails [Yahoo Messenger as my only active email adress is a free account with Yahoo].. GrowlMail does appear in the Mail Preferences Panel

Hope someone can do a bit of troubleshooting with me, or offer me some suggestion on what's wrong and how to fix it..

Thank you.

So you receive your Yahoo mail in the Apple Mail program?

GrowlMail is separate and not related to Adium, and it would need to be discussed in the Growl forums, which have several threads on it already.

no i do not use the apple Mail program to read my Yahoo emails..
I think I know where this is heading.. the New Email Notification Function has effect only with POP or other email accounts configured with the Apple email client.. right?

No, quite the opposite.

GrowlMail is used for accounts configured with Apple's Mail client, it was mentioned because you mentioned it in your post.

Adium's mail notifications are from the service provider (in this case, Yahoo!) and are not dependent on a desktop client.

Do you receive notifications within Adium when you receive new mail? If you don't, you're not going to see Growl notifications sent by Adium, either...

You need to have check for mail enabled in Preferences->Accounts->your Yahoo account->Options. Do you?
