SVN version?

Post by CompiledMonkey »

I've read that upgrading your SVN client to the newly released 1.4 will require any other users to use 1.4. Has the Adium developer group made this switch?

Specifically (according to the notes):
"This means that Subversion clients earlier than 1.4 will not be able to work with working copies produced by Subversion 1.4. Similarly, the repository format has changed as well, meaning that pre-1.4 Subversion tools that normally access a repository directly (e.g. svnserve, mod_dav_svn, svnadmin) won't be able to read a repository originally created by Subversion 1.4."

The repository is 1.3 IIRC right now, and as such any client should be able to access it. If the repository and its format were updated, then the above would come into play.

If/when such a change occurs, I'd imagine http://trac.adiumx.com/wiki/GettingAdiumSource will be updated.

I'm not positive, but I think that subversion 1.3 clients can still interact with a 1.4 repository... the documentation seems to indicate that:
1) If 1.4 serverside creates a repository, 1.4 serverside tools are required
2) If 1.4 clientside checks out the repository, 1.4 clientside tools are required.

In any case, as Brian said, we'll update the getting source page as appropriate... which will most likely be when the development server is fully operational again, as we'll be taking this opportunity to ensure we're running the latest stable versions of all relevant software.
The duck still burns.
