Using Launchbar in order to open adium x chat window

Hi there,
I am using launchbar. When I open a contacts chat name via launchbar it is interpretated as a url like aol://screenname or icq://... . Adium recognizes aol:// urls and opens the corresponding chat window. The only problem is, that icq://, msn:// and yahoo:// will not be recognized by adium x. Is there a possibility to solve this problem or is there hope for a update solving it?
Thx

What format are the icq:// msn:// and yahoo:// URLs? I'm not aware of an official way to use those.

Well, though RCDefaultApp seems to be a nice ap, the problem is, that the url's don't seem to be registered within os x by a certain app. This is why they don't appear in RCDefaultApp. I used Proteus before and Proteus somehow knows how to deal with those urls.
I don't know what format the URLs are. It seems to be used by the apple adressbook as a prefix of the screenname. Shouldn't it be possible to tell adium to deal with those URLs like it deals with aol:// screenname ?

if you mean that, the format is icq://[ICQ#] msn://[screenname] yahoo://[screenname]. Basically like the format of aim:// just with another prefix...

I was the guy who suggested to Obdev that LB should be able to open the URLs. I use Proteus. I found out I was able to do it with aim:// msn:// etc. URLs when I wrote a couple of adressbook plug-ins for it. I'm not sure Adium supports this, but I can tell you it is a nice feature for me as I do almost everything from LaunchBar. Being able to open a conversation from it sure is icing on the cake. I'd love it to be possible in Adium as well (i know you support aim://) since I might switch to Adium any day and I want to be able to continue to use this feature of LaunchBar. Thanks!

I just checked how Proteus works with Launchbar ... it's really nice. To the Dev's: is there any chance of realizing this in Adium ?

But aim uses aim://goim?screenname=NAME&message=MESSAGE.
is it just icq://[ICQ#]? or icq://goim?screenname=[ICQ#]? or something else entirely? Similarly, what's the exact format for msn and yahoo.
Let us know and I'll be glad to add support.

hmm ... When I try to open it in Launchbar a window pops up telling me that OS X doenst recognize adresses like ICQ://screenname. I don't know how to figure out whar exakt format launchbar/ Adress Book uses. ... I will later on check how it works with Proteus...

I could just check with yahoo. Proteus knows yahoo://screenname and yahoo://goim?screenname=NAME. So, I don't know what format Launchbar uses. Unfortunatly I cannont test the others since after playing around with RCDDefault.app I deactivated the urls icq and msn and now they don't come back, when I install Proteus ... any suggestions on that ? How can you tell osx to recognize and open certain urls ???

ok, solved the URL problem and tested a little more. Launchbar displays the format of the URL just with icq://screenname. Therefore I think that is the format Launchbar uses...
Proteus opens both, icq://screenname and icq://goim?screenname=SCREENNAME. Same with msn:// and yahoo://.
I would suggest, you tell Adium to open either of the format and everything would be fine ... ?

this is what it sais in the launchbar 4.0 changelog:
The Address Book is now scanned for all types of instant messaging screennames (AIM, ICQ, Jabber, MSN, Yahoo). They are opened with the default helper application for the "icq", "jabber", "msn" or "yahoo" URL schemes (e.g. Proteus supports these schemes).

Done. aim://, msn://, yahoo://, ymsgr://, xmpp://, jabber://, and icq:// will support both format, as well the AIM addbuddy query and the yahoo sendim query (identical to goim), in .8.
