i am trying to get a really simple look with all garamond 12pt for fonts... i edited the tutorial adium message style to use garamond, under the textonlygrays variant.. i have also tried to go to every place in the options i could find and change it to garamond, but when i do, my changes dont stick! the message style preview thing says it should all be garamond, but only the recieved messages are in garamond... all my input (both as i type, and once it is sent) is in helvetica. if i go to format->show fonts.. it has helvetica selected but if i change it to garamond and then close the window (just click the x... there is no OK button i can see) it just goes back to helvetica right away... please help.. i just want my garamond!

thanks, horix

~/Library/Application Support/Adium 2.0/Users/Default/Formatting.plist

Either change it, or make a new one:

Code: Select all

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple Computer//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">
<plist version="1.0">
<dict>
	<key>Default Background Color</key>
	<string>255,255,255</string>
	<key>Default Font</key>
	<string>Garamond,12</string>
	<key>Default Text Color</key>
	<string>0,0,0</string>
</dict>
</plist>

So do all of that, and then go to the Message View pane of the preferences and change the font there.

the message view pane has been set to garamond from the beginning... so thats not it...

I'm also plagued by this problem, and zaudragon's fix doesn't seem to do anything but set the font to Lucida Grande no matter what I say I want my font to be (yes, I'm spelling it correctly). This is pretty frustrating.

A space might be a problem (Times, 12 for example)

yeah, i had the lucida grande problem myself, and so i uninstalled .76 cleaned out the pref files and everything.. and then installed .77 and found every font thing i could and set it to garamond.. and thats where i am now.. putting that space in there doesn't do anything, btw.. thanks for continuing to try though! :)
