Trouble connecting with AIM

Post by Noni »

Hi, I've had Adium on my computer on my Mac for a while now, and I use it for my AIM screennames. Recently, however, it's been taking several minutes to connect, and today it just didn't at all. The program tried conencting me for about 40 minutes or so, and then a window popped up saying "Gaim error: disconnected" or something like that.

Can anybody suggest what might be wrong?

Oh, I just checked with my Yahoo! Messenger name, and it doesn't work for that, either.

Do you have this problem when connecting with iChat?

And by the looks of it, you are using version .89.1, have you tried using the new beta?

I don't use iChat...and no, I haven't tried using the beta. I'll try that next, thanks.

Okay, I downloaded the beta, and it still wouldn't connect. It says, "Adium is unable to connect to the AIM server; the attempt timed out. Please check your network connection and try again."

It's been acting funny for about a week, but this is the first time I haven't been able to connect, period.

I have heard that AIM's been acting iffy lately, come to think of it.
