adium crash on message sending

adium opens just fine, and i can do everything without problem, but crashes when i open a message window.

i'm not sure the extent of the problem. Mail crashes when I check mail, and ichat crashes when i send a message. i realize this probably isn't an adium question specifically, but adium crashing is what is affecting me the most, and hopefully someone can help.
