Adium freezing when waking from sleep

With .77 Adium has been freezing when I wake my powerbook from sleep. Rendezvous connects, but not my MSN or AIM accounts, and the bird in the dock is asleep. However, sometimes the AIM will connect, but the MSN won't. All cases result with me having to force quit Adium and reopen it. Then it's fine.

Thanks.

I think I might have solved it...

I deleted all my prefs and set out on customizing it again, well when entering in my AIM profile - exactly as it has been, I got a "You exceeded 1024 bytes" error. So apparently that may have been the problem - if my profile was exceeding the limit and connecting to aim when waking from sleep might have messed it up.

I haven't tested this, but I will when I get around to it.

Do the problem persist with your rendezvous account removed/disabled?

I've actually noticed this problem somewhat often too. While rendezvous is now generally a lot better about changing locations, something it does seems to occasionally cause other account types to hang when the laptop is woken up. I still see it from time to time, and generally, the quickest fix is just to relaunch the application. Disabling the rendezvous account seems to stop any issues from ever happening.

Here is what things generally look like after a typical bad "wakeup." All the accounts report offline and stay that way, and there are a few rendezvous contacts in the list.

Wake from sleep issues, Rendezvous locks up Adium?

Hi there,
I have had Adium for just over a week now.
(Version 0.77)
It looks good, and I especially like the customizable interface, and have moved from using fire.
But enough of the back slapping!
Down to business;

I have had a small problem when waking from sleep on my ibook G3 800Mhz.
One time when I opened my ibook from sleep it just had a black screen and the spinning beachball of death was stuck, I left it for a while and decided to reboot.
I am not too sure if it was Adium that caused this problem, but thought I would tell you guys about this first crash.
Only imail and Adium were running.

I have AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and ICQ accounts.
And I set up a Rendezvous account too.
Most of the time I turn on the "idle" option so ppl don't disturb me.

All was well in wake from sleep when I am connected to my work network via a cable (what I mean is plugging into the network port not airport).
But when I get home and connect via airport to my ADSL connection Adium does not properly come back online when I wake my ibook from sleep.

First when I wake me ibook from sleep Adium shows "myself" in Rendezvous!?
I can't find anyone else on the forum who sees them-selves in Adium, so maybe it is just my problem?
I hope you get what I mean, I see myself in the Rendezvous contact list.

If I try to bring Adium to the foreground all I see is the spinning beach ball.
It does not lock up other programs, but Adium is unusable.

Sometimes after a few minutes (approx. 5-8 minutes timed) Adium asks for my system password and connects and all is well.
Other times it just spins so long I just force quit and restart it.

Removing Rendezvous appears to fix the problem.
So I can only guess it is a problem with Rendezvous over airport.
I have noticed imail sometimes says it is offline when I wake my ibook; but after a while imail checks e-mail again and all is well.

I am not an expert, but think it must be that OSX does not tell Adium that the network is back.
I will just not use Rendezvous anymore, so it's not too much loss.

I don't want to cause trouble, just wanted to add another voice to this problem.

P.S- How do you get the status menu like the one shown above? I just have a little duck that does not give as many options as the menu pictured in "njm7176"s message. That looks much more useful!

Myself in Rendezvous

You are not the only one seeing yourself. I am listed in Rendezvous on both of my computers. It is especially a problem when I have both computers up and running. I would see myself listed twice on each. For now I have changed the name of each Rendezvous account to specify which computer it is from. I still see me twice, but at least now I know which "buddy" is which. This appears to be a bug in the way Adium handles Rendezvous since I can't remove myself from the buddy list.
