Hi,
I just got adium today and so far it's great. I was wondering if there was a way to set your buddylist so that the offline contacts appear, but only appear at the end of all the online people. Instead of interspersed among the online people, the offline people would appear just at the bottom of the list (as it appeared for me on my AIM for a pc). (By the way, right now i have my buddylist set to organize manually).

Secondly, is there a way to check a screenname's info without adding them as a buddy to your buddylist?

And thirdly, what is this growl feature? Is there a way to select what events/actions are shown with a little alert bubble? (As of now, a bubble appears for every text entered while IMing with a buddy, as well as for whoever signs on/off, etc. It's a little much). Ideally, Id like to just have the popup alerts for when a buddy signs on or off or becomes unidle or idle. (not for every text entered).

Lastly, on the buddylist, is there a way to ONLY make actually idle buddies appear in gray? Right now, if someone is away (but not necessarily idle) they also appear gray. I'd rather have those people in black and just the truly idle people in gray....

Also, just to confirm, adium is linked with my AIM account (and also ichat account)? I originally had just AIM and then also ichat, and now also adium -- all with the same screenname. So if i add/delete buddies or make a change in any one of these 3 programs, it carries over to the other ones?

THANKS!

1) View -> Configure Status Sort...
2) command-n, type their name (This will open a chat window with them), shift-command-i (for get info) (not positive if this will work...)
3) Yeah, its all under Preferences -> Events
4) Preferences -> Appearance -> (CUSTOMIZE) button next to the color scheme, its in there somewhere

sorry if these are rushed answers, but I'm headed to bed in a few minutes - just trying to give a bit of help before I do :D

For #2, once you've got the message window open, it's also possible to click the info button in the message window's toolbar instead of Shift-Command-I.

And about the account ambiguity... "AIM" refers to both a client (the porgram you use to log on) and a protocol (basically, the system over which your program communicates). iChat and Adium are both clines and neither have their own protocol; iChat can connect to the AIM, Jabber, and Bonjour protocols, and Adium can connect to... a bunch. It sounds to me like you're accessing the AIM protocol from each of those programs; therefore, since you're using the same screen name, you're on the same account, and adding/deleting buddies, etc., will indeed carry over.

Regarding #2, I thought you still have to add the person to your buddy list before you can do a "Get info" on them?

You know, I don't really know for sure. You may have to.

You shouldn't. On some services you may have to.
