iChat allows you to display an "Available Message" which you can change and customise while you are AVAILABLE and not AWAY. It doenst need to be an autoresponder either. I believe 'Fire' allows this as well. Perhaps the current playing iTunes song would fill in here as an optional use? Is this feature already existing and I havent found it yet? Thanks!

When it's done
Shouldn't be too long. I believe the current release, .77, is the last of the .7x series. It's kind of like wondering when Tiger will come out, knowing that OS 10.3.8 is the last Panther release (actually I think there will be a 10.3.9; I was just using OS X as an example).

Slim -- check the stickies.
Its all pretty much answered there.
FYI its a big no-no around here to ask when the next release is. Some might get cross with you.
But not me. I'm just giving you some friendly advice dude.
Search the forums too!
And of course, welcome!!!

I tried searching, but when you're looking for the two words "Available" and "Message", well, think about it, you get just about every match for everthing. Hah! So I had to ask the powers that be my simple question

I hope no one was, I meant it teasingly, err... sarcastically, but sarcasm doesnt travel the internet very well. I'm just excited for the next release, ok?

Keep up the good work on an excellent piece of software!!!
