Certain URL links unclickable by other adium users
Posted: Sun Feb 27, 2005 1:44 am
If I make a hyperlink in an away message or a profile that follows this structure:
Code: Select all
adium users can't click that link. I use this particular script to track who clicks on things in my profile. Regular AIM users can still click this link just fine. Is there any current workaround I could use??

you need to encode the URL like this:
Code: Select all
Might work, might not. No guarantees.

I know there used to be an issue with the %n messing things up; does it work if you take that out?

I'll try the way zaudragon specified. Any good tool for encoding hex like that?
The %n is important to my link... it is what helps me track who clicked the link. If I take it out, I might as well use a normal link.
Thanks guys! I'll let you know.

I know, I just meant take it out to see if it still messes up, in order to find out if that's the problem. If it is, then I agree that it does kind of defeat the purpose of your link, but such is life I guess

Yea... that %n is screwing it up. It must be trying to interpret what the hex n value is.
I don't see any way around it right now. If I change that %n to its hex value, then it doesn't register the name right.
At least it works for AIM users I guess.
Let me know if you figure anything out

I assume this is also related to why "SubProfile" links in profiles do not work for Adium users, right? I have one or two buddies whose links just beep with I click them or when I choose Open Link from the context menu. I believe those links use the %n also.
Upon first glance, it appears that the problem might be that %n is being replaced in the profile with your user alias, not your account name.

Hey all, I was pasting links to photos on my iDisk.
They all went through fine, except one.
http://homepage.mac.com/username/.Pictu ... o/Bars.jpg
It pastes fine, but when I actually send it, Adium changes it to:
http://homepage.mac.com/username/.Pictu ... oliors.jpg
Every single time! I don't get it. I have 0.77, 10.3.8, and Simple ((Time) Name).
P.S. Even if I type it out instead of paste it, Adium changes it.

You have a substitution script installed which triggers on /bar. Also, this problem (substitution scripts fire within links) is fixed in .8.

The issues with %n in links (that includes 'subprofile' links) are fixed for 0.8.
