Gaim Error: "connecting too frequently"

You have been connecting and disconnecting too frequently. Wait ten minutes and try again. If you continue to try, you will need to wait even longer.

- Configuration: iMac (Tiger, Adium 0.89.1) <--> Wireless Router <--> Cable Modem
- No proxy configured in Adium prefs
- Tried two different AIM accounts, same issue
- Meebo works fine
- Yahoo and Google Talk are connecting without issue
- Every once in a while I can connect, but most of the time I get the error.

I searched around on the forum but couldn't find a definitive solution. These are the related posts I found..

I've been having the same problem in this. I'm not sure what to do.

I just ported in centericq through darwin ports and was able to connect. Still nothing on native graphical clients on OS X.

Please (1) wait a while, as indicated -- your rate limit is stored on the server, and the message Adium is showing you isn't lying in that the server really does make the ban longer if you keep trying, then (2) try the Adium 1.0 beta, beta.adiumx.com, which has fixes for some rate limiting problems.

Hello, I'm having the problem as well, and i'm using the beta (1.0b24). Any other suggestions? sure would like to get back onto the AIM portion of my adium.
