Away Message

Every time I put up an away message I disappear off my friend's buddy lists even though on my computer it says that I am away. I've made sure that I am picking away and no invisble and it still is happening.. Anyone have any idea how to help??

Also, how can I check people's AIM profiles that are not on my buddy list??

I am fairly new to this program and am trying to figure everything out.
