You should first update to the newest version of Mac OS X; click the Apple in the top left corner and click Software Update. But yes, you should be able to run Adium.

Mac OS X 10.4 is fully supported, so actually it should run. Which Version of Adium are you using and why don't you update on OS X 10.4.8?

Actually I tried different versions of Adium 0.89, 0.88, 0.87 ect. But always when I started to write message I had the same error-crash Aduim. I didn't update my Mac OS X because I thought that Adium can work under 10.4.3.
I will use your advice and update my OS to 10.4.8

keeping your OS up to date is always a good idea, even if Adium runs ;).
you also might want to try the Adium 1.0 beta version. it is much improved and maybe the bug causing the crash on your system is already fixed there. you can download it here.

I used your advice - I update my OS to 10.4.8 and went to the web link http://adiumx.com/beta/ - but I can not find the download link of Adiumx 1.0b1. I have Adiumx 1.0b.20. But when I ran adium I had same crash...

He didnt mean Adium 1.0 b1, he meant Adium 1.0 b20, so no need to go looking for b1 :)

Thanks! Now I understood what does he meant. So I checked the folder Adium 2.0 - folder "Contact list" is empty; folder "Emoticons" is empty; folder "Message Styles" is empty; folder "Plugins" is empty; "Sripts" folder is empty and "Sounds" folder is empty. It is normally?

It starts out empty. If you add new ones (from, say, the Xtras site) they'll be placed in the appropriate folder there.

yes, it is normal. these folders are only used when you install extras. the default Adium stuff is stored somewhere else.
but from what you are descirbing it could be that something in the Adium 2.0 folder is screwed up. so try to completely drag your Adium 2.0 folder to the desktop (before you do so quit Adium) and then restart Adium. All your preferences, chatlogs etc. is stored in this folder, so don't trash it, just try if Adium still crashes after you moved the folder to the desktop. if it does not, you know it's something in the Adium 2.0 folder.

Can you try to run Adium using a new user account? It seems very strange that it does not work on your mac - some settings are probably messed up.

(Two other things you could try are deleting the adium related preference files in your ~/Library/Preferences folder and repairing permissions on your disk using Disk Utility.)

At least one developer has already replied to this thread once. :)

What info can I use to look up the crash report

Try turning off accessability.

The problem is that the logs you sent in had an empty backtrace, so now it's down to guessing. This is through no fault of your own, just how things are.

Accessability is a known crasher, and will sometimes report in that way. Which is why I had you disable that.

What message style are you using? Does this happen with another message style selected?
